Not most of us would go to police, even when there is a need. Police stations have unfortunately developed such an image. This forum makes an earnest effort to eradicate that image from the minds of the law-abiding public by attempting to create transparency in the functioning of the police department. This is just the beginning towards achieving that goal. e-mails or letters sent by the aggrieved public to police top-brass is fine. But, whether those complaints were followed up or not does not become known to the public as the correspondence remains confined to the individual complainant and the department. But, here, the police will reply. There is instant redress system.
The police can make use of this space to optmize efficiency in the department. Despatch riders need not go running about town to distribute press releases to all media organizations. Newspapers can pick up statements posted. Why, Mysore can even become the first city in the world to dish out even photographs to media houses instead of having the elaborate and time-consuming media briefings. Isn’t technology wonderful?
